RUG SIZE GUIDE

The right rug size typically depends on three things: your room dimensions, your furniture layout, and the overall look you want to achieve.

Below are some of the most common rug placement options for different rooms.

RECOMMENDED PLACEMENT

  • Rug underneath the bed: A larger rug placed underneath the bed creates a well-balanced look and provides a soft surface to step onto when getting out of bed.
  • Rug at the foot of the bed: A smaller rug at the foot of the bed is a practical option when a larger rug isn't suitable for the space.
  • Layered approach: Pair a smaller rug at the foot of the bed with two runners or accent rugs on either side.

RECOMMENDED PLACEMENT

  • Place the front legs of your sofa and chairs on the rug.
  • Your coffee table should also sit on the rug.
  • Avoid placing all of your furniture completely on the rug whenever possible. The rug should remain visible around the seating area.
